Statistics

The Statistics section features links to statistics and databases provided by regional governments, international organizations, and think tanks. While it is generally easy to access international statistics, finding national data scattered on the websites of statistics agencies, ministries, and national/central banks can be a bigger challenge. CASPIANA’s goal is to help students and scholars in this endeavor.

The countries of the region had inherited their statistical systems from the Soviet Union. They have made efforts to adopt international standards and practices, guided and assisted in this process by international organizations. Assessments of the statistical systems of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were carried out by the United Nations Economic Commission of Europe (UNECE).

The quality of national statistics varies across the region. We encourage you to exercise judgement while using it in your research.
