Azattyq - The Kazakh office of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, funded by the United States through the Agency for Global Media. Publishes articles on political, economic and social affairs. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian. 

Eurasianet - Independent news organization founded in 1999 by the Open Society Institute that provides news, information, and analysis focused on countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Eurasianet is now hosted by Columbia University’s Harriman Institute and is supported by a variety of international foundations. Coverage in English and Russian.  

Forbes Kazakhstan - Monthly business print journal and website founded in 2011 and owned by United Media Group LLP, with the permission of Forbes Media LLC. Forbes Kazakhstan covers economic, financial, political and social issues. Special products include Forbes ratings that reports the richest businessmen, banks, insurance companies, etc, in Kazakhstan. Print coverage only in Russian. Website coverage in Kazakh, Russian, and English.  

HolaNews.kz - Independent internet-media platform founded in 2020 by Hola News LLP, that features news, interviews, investigations, and opinion pieces. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian.

Novaya Gazeta - KazakhstanKazakhstan edition of Novaya Gazeta, a weekly journal covering political, economic and social affairs in the form of press releases, short news and feature reports. Novaya Gazeta - Kazakhstan also has editorials, columns and opinion pieces. Most articles have the critical view of the government’s policies. Coverage in Russian. 

Vlast.kz - Analytical online journal founded in 2012 by Publish House Vlast, LLP that covers political, economic, social and cultural themes. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian.

Baige News - Government owned news agency founded in 2019 by Kazinform that covers political, economic, social, and cultural news in Kazakhstan. Coverage in Russian. 

Baq.kz - Government owned news agency founded in 2019  that covers daily news in Kazakhstan and is a property of Kazinform. Coverage only in Kazakh. 

Crossroads - Non-profit research institute co-founded by Shairbek Dzhuraev based in Bishkek that promotes a better understanding of the political, economic, and security affairs in Central Asia. Crossroads provides reports, commentaires, and a variety of other research projects. Coverage in English, Russian, German, French, and Chinese.

Egemen Qazaqstan - Government-owned media platform founded in 1919 by the Ministry of Information and Public Accord of the Republic of Kazakhstan that covers daily general news.  Originally founded under the name “Ushqyn”. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian. 

Ekonomist.kz - Open online platform for professional discussions on economic topics in Kazakhstan that includes statistics and articles. The Ekonomist.kz is financed with support from the Soros-Kazakhstan Foundation and provides a platform for professional opinions from the NGOs, international organizations, academics, businesses, and the state. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian.

Eurasia Daily Monitor - Publication launched in 2004 by the Jamestown Foundation, a Washington D.C. based institute for research and analysis. The Eurasia Daily Monitor is an analytical publication that surveys recent developments in Eurasia, providing overview and analysis of events. Coverage in English. 

Exclusive.kz - Analytical magazine founded in 2002 by Exclusive Publishing House that covers pressing political, economic, and social issues in Kazakhstan. Exclusive.kz moved online in 2011 and currently functions as a multimedia portal. Coverage in Russian. 

Factcheck.kz - Online media source founded in 2017 and the first Central Asian fact-checking resource. Factcheck.kz has been a member of the International Fact-Checking Network since 2018 and was the initiator of the Eurasian Fact-checking and Media Literacy Network. Factcheck.kz also provides media literacy and fact-checking training for journalists, students, and the general public. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian. 

Informburo.kz - Multimedia informational portal founded in 2017 by Infopolis LLP that covers general news in Kazakhstan. Informburo partners with TV Channel 21. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian. 

Interfax.kz -Interfax-Kazakhstan News Agency is a member company of Interfax Information Services Group. The Agency has been working in Kazakhstan's market of political and economic information since October 1996. Interfax-Kazakhstan offers its subscribers a variety of news products and services in electronic format, including solutions to mass media monitoring and information about companies operating in the CIS and abroad. KazakhStan 2.0  –   Analytical portal that operates under the aegis of the CA Analysis & Research Center (CAA&RC), registered in February 2017 in the United Kingdom. CAA&RC specializes in Central Asia with an emphasis on Kazakhstan. It provides analysis and predictions for future developments in Kazakhstan and Central Asia; expertly evaluating events, decisions and actions; working out concrete recommendations; and providing political and economic consulting. Headed by Irina Petrusheva, former editor-in-chief of the opposition newspaper Respublika, which was closed by authorities. Coverage in Russian and English.

Kazakhstanskaya Pravda – Government-owned, Russian-language media platform founded in 1920  covering political, economic and cultural developments in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstanskaya Pravda is the property of the Committee of State Property and Privatization of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is the official outlet for the distribution of information from Kazakh state bodies on issues of domestic and foriegn policy. Coverage in Russian, English, and Kazakh.

KAZINFORM – State owned news agency that covers day-to-day political, economic and social affairs in the form of press releases, short news, feature reports, editorials, columns, and opinion pieces. Archives are available from 2009. KAZINFORM has active pages on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. Coverage in Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, Uzbek, Arabic.

KazTAG –  Media source founded in 2008 by the National Press Club that covers day-to-day political, economic, and social affairs in Kazakhstan. KazTAG publishes press releases, short news, feature reports, editorials, columns and opinion pieces. Coverage in Kazakh, Russian, English.

Kursiv - Weekly business journal founded in 2002 by Alteco Partners LLP that features news and analysis of political, economic, business, and financial spheres of life in Kazakhstan and the world. Coverage in Russian, English, and Kazakh. 

Malim.kz - Online, independent media platform founded in 2019 that covers politics, economics, social and human rights issues. Coverage in Kazakh. 

Masa.media - An independent educational media resource in Kazakhstan. The project aims to explain political, legal, and legislative terms and events in Kazakhstan in an accessible way. The website also contains a regularly updated news section.

Obshestvennaia Pozitsiia | Dat - Weekly opposition journal founded in 1998 that covers general news in Kazakhstan. “Dat'' has closed many times and has reopened under different names. Editor-in-chief is Ermurat Bapi. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian. 

openDemocracy -  United Kingdom-based political website founded in 2001 that provides reporting and analysis of events throughout the world, including occasionally Central Asia and the Caucuses. “openDemocracy” is owned by the nonprofit openDemocracy Foundation for the Advancement of Global Education. openDemocracy was founded by Anthony Barnett, David Hayes, Susan Richards, and Paul Hilder. Coverage in English.

Orda.kz - Independent internet-media platform founded in 2020 by Gulnara Bazhkenova that covers political and social developments in Kazakhstan and abroad. Coverage in Kazakh and Russian.

Ratel.kz - Online news platform founded in 2013 that covers political events in Kazakhstan, including sections for investigations and scandals. Coverage in Russian.  

Tengrinews.kz – Media source founded in 2008 by Effective Media Liaison, LLP that covers general news, economic, political and business events in Kazakhstan. Tengrinews also covers crimes, disasters, health, education, culture, entertainment, sports, and contains reviews of the latest scientific and technical developments. Tengrinews offers a range of videos and photos, including entertainment videos, exclusive interviews and videos from various political events. Tengrinews has a special section for feature articles and a ‘Blogs and opinions’ section that offers stories by international journalists and opinions by well-known Kazakhstan experts from various areas. Coverage in Kazakh, Russian, English.

The Astana Times - Online media platform founded in 2010 covering political, economic, business, and social issues for Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and the world. The Astana Times is published by the Regional Non-Profit Organization Guild of Independent Journalists with links to the Kazakh government. Coverage only in English.

The Diplomat - International online news magazine founded in 2001 covering politics, society, and culture in Asia. The Diplomat frequently runs articles on Central Asia and is based in Washington, D.C. The Diplomat was founded by Minh Bui Jones, David Llewellyn-Smith, and Sung Lee.  Coverage in English. 

Times of Central Asia - Bishkek-based newspaper founded in 1999 by Giorgio Fiacconi that covers Central Asian politics, investments, economics, commerce, culture, social issues, corruption, and terrorism.  It ceased print publication in 2013 and is now only online. Coverage in English Only. 

UralskWeek - Independent media source founded in 2001 that has both a printed version and a website focused on investigative journalism and budget transparency. Coverage in Russian and  Kazakh.

Zakon.kz - Media platform founded in 1999 that covers general news, including economic, political,  and business  events. Zakon.kz was founded by Sergei Kisilev, Igor Loskutov and Aleksandr Galanshin as a platform for lawyers, economists, and experts to find professional information and exchange opinions. Zakon.kz therefore has a database of all legal acts passed by the government of Kazakhstan. Coverage in Russian.
